Educational Advising

Ethel Matenge-Sebesho, Home Finance Guarantors Africa Reinsurance, presents during the Housing Finance for Sub-Saharan Africa course in Cape Town.

IHFP supports Universities, Professional Associations’ and Central Bank Training Institutions to establish or strengthen their housing finance education programs. Few developing countries have programs focused on housing finance and housing market/policy analysis. IHFP also assisted international development agencies such as USAID with the development of housing and housing finance training strategies.

This support comprises training faculty from educational institutions in housing finance, assisting in the development of housing finance curricula, and co-teaching courses with local faculty at their home institutions. The following is a sample of countries where these services were provided.

  • India, Pakistan 1990-1992, Indonesia 1997- 2005, CASHFI 1996, 2003
  • Brazil, Mexico, Tanzania, Zambia and South Africa 2000s

This effort led to the long-term partnership with the Graduate School of Business at Cape Town University (CTU), South Africa, to teach the annual, joint Wharton – CTU housing finance course for Sub-Saharan Africa.
