Dr. Douglas Diamond is an international housing finance specialist. He has spent 12 years as a full-time independent consultant specializing in housing and housing finance issues in developing countries. In particular, he has worked extensively in European countries transitioning from Communism, including Ukraine, Croatia, Estonia, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Poland, Russia, and Slovakia, as well as in Africa (Ghana, South Africa, Tanzania), Asia (India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Mongolia, Vietnam), the Middle East (Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Gaza/West Bank), Latin America (Brazil, Chile, Suriname), and the Caribbean (Barbados).

 

His international activities follow 15 years of involvement in all aspects of U.S. housing research, including a faculty position at North Carolina State University, a Scholar-in-Residence appointment in the Office of Economic Affairs at HUD, and Director of Policy Research for the National Association of Home Builders. He is also the editor or co-author of 3 books and over 30 articles.

 

Dr. Diamond holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Chicago.
